Max Dworkin

Julia Margaret Cameron Julia Margaret Cameron (June 11, 1815 - January 26, 1879) was an English photographer who was devoted to the artistic cutting photographic portrait and scenic representation of allegories that surround the stream of photography academicista. He came to exhibit at the Exposition Universelle of 1870, and his work was recognized posthumously, along with that of Lewis Carroll, with its claim by the photographers of Pictorialism, and the support of the Bloomsbury literary group and his great-niece Virginia Woolf. Hey dudes, not an art post, but if you've known me in person for any amount of time you probably know I never shut up about WFMU: They came up $100,000 short of their fundraiser goal in March, and are holding a 24 hour marathon to help make up the difference from Tuesday to Wednesday! You can tune into their live stream and years of show archives at http://www.wfmu.org , and also stream rock and soul programming 24/7 at http://wfmuichiban.blogspot.com/I spend most of my day holed up in my room drawing and these shows have gotten me through countless hours of work. If you aren't a listener, I recommend going through the archives for Night People, The Best Show, Downtown Soulville, Seven Second Delay, Cherry Blossom Clinic, Dave the Spazz and Fool's Paradise! http://www.wfmu.org/marathon/index.shtml |

Last chance!
My show at Rotofugi comes down after this weekend. There are still some great paintings left. Keep in mind, these are pages of an upcoming book, and if you purchase them now, you will be personally thanked in the book! Some choice paintings: These three and more are still available in store, or through Rotofugi's online store.SIMILARLY- My show with Grant Reynolds at Giant Robot SF is coming down on the 11th- so this is a good time to pick up one of those pieces! Might I suggest: These and more available HERE! |

the other night i made myself a mix of some of ani difranco's more political songs. because playlists have to have titles, i called it willing to fight, despite the fact that the eponymous song didn't make it onto the final mix. i've been listening to it for several days and i like it very much. i thought someone else might like it too. it's available to download as a zip file. tracks: 01. red letter year | red letter year | 2008 02. crime for crime | not a pretty girl | 1995 03. fuel | little plastic castle | 1998 04. every state line | living in clip | 1997 {originally from imperfectly | 1992} 05. to the teeth | to the teeth | 2000 06. alla this | red letter year | 2008 07. 'tis of thee | up up up up up up | 1999 08. hello birmingham | to the teeth | 2000 09. decree | reprieve | 2006 10. coming up | not a pretty girl | 1995 |

Ghost Girls Preserved in Honey
I am haunted by phantasms, of late- kept company by their tittering laughter, told stories and been diverted by flashing eyes, white hands fluttering. A chorus of ghost girls has come to tea.

Glittering masks and bony arms, they're always hungry but never say much. They seem to be smoking, but you can't smell it. Strange ladies, these friends who are here, and not. Glamourous, grim.

rejected! I finished a festival poster using this illustration and at the very last minute the sponsors nixed the whole drawing since it looked too drug-oriented (?) or something? Anyway, I still like it. |

I thought I'd post a new intro since I've been away from the community for a long while and may have even lost touch with a few penpals I had originally contacted. I would love to meet anyone who shares some commin interests in the areas of sports (NHL and MLB), coffee, restaurants, languages (French), or technology (iPhone and general geekery). Music ranges from rock to country to pop mostly, with an emphasis on 90s alternative, classic rock, oldies from the 60s to the 90s, current and classic country, etc. Any artist in there will give us something to talk about. My favourite TV shows, other than the news, include Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, Rules of Engagement, Trailer Park Boys, All in the Family, and the Golden Girls. I love a good sense of humour. I respect and value good grammar and spelling. Family and good friendships are important to me. I swear a lot but try to keep a lid on it at work and succeed in keeping a lid on it with family and in public. |
